Five Fun Highlight Moves for Your Wedding Dance

A wedding dance is an important tradition that introduces you as a couple for the first time. Wedding dances are perfect for you to have a special moment together and with some of the following highlights moves they will not only ‘wow’ your audience but will also make great photography moments.

Dips

A common highlight or ending to a wedding dance is a dip. There are many different dips that can create great shapes and lines to your dance. Note: The person being dipped needs to be able to hold themselves in dips and not rely entirely on their partner to catch them.

Leans

A lean, whether away from each other (like in the photo) or against each other is another perfect photo opportunity. The leader creates a strong solid base for the follower.

Lifts

Lifts are the height of highlights and showing off (a little) in the wedding dance. Again there are many different types of lifts so, that the ‘lifter’ and the ‘liftee’ can both feel comfortable. Somethings to consider when it comes to lifts is the attire (is your dress/suit appropriate for a lift), preexisting injuries and venue space/ceiling height.

Walk arounds with unique arm styling can be very effect in wedding dances. It is also another opportunity for you to check in with your partner and look at each other as you make memories together.

Explosion Lines

Explosion lines are an arm styling that you can use to make big grand gestures before moving into a another highlight or returning to your other dance moves. It’s a nice moment to open to your audience and acknowledge them in your dance.

Overall, your wedding dance should reflect you as a couple and tell your story. It is about being comfortable and not stressed on the day. There are other highlight moves and moments that can make your wedding dance special and capture those great shots to remember forever.
