For the Love of Dancing - Valentine’s Day Special

Whether you love it or you hate it, February 14th is known as Valentine’s Day. A day to celebrate love and a chance to let those people who are close know how much they mean to you. Valentine’s Day has long history of traditions and customs, and dancing has been apart of Valentine’s Day for many years.

One of the earliest recounts of Valentine’s Day being a day about love can be found in the Charter of the Court of Love dated back to the 1400’s. The charter talks about extravagant and lavish festivals attend by members of royalty where people would feast, joust, sing and of course dance.

If we skip forward a few centuries, to a more modern day Valentine’s day we may be more familiar (late 1800s/early1900s), it was spent with a fun night out of dinner and dancing. Even with couples that weren’t as affluent, dancing was still a popular valentines activity. Some couples would host private house dance parties (with a small dinner) as a more affordable night of fun.

Whatever you have planned for Valentine’s Day this year (whether you are in a relationship or are still looking for that special someone) we recommend that your day includes some dancing. It is sure to make your night that extra bit special.
